New members of the Campaign Board announced

The Academy is delighted to welcome five new members to our Campaign for Social Science Board.

The following colleagues have been appointed and began their positions in May 2024:

  • Jo Adetunji, Editor, The Conversation UK.
  • Professor Rob Ford FAcSS, Professor of Political Science at the University of Manchester and Senior Fellow at UK in a Changing Europe.
  • Carol McNaughton Nicholls, Managing Partner at Thinks Insight & Strategy.
  • Gillian Prior FAcSS, Deputy Chief Executive at the National Centre for Social Research.
  • Professor Jo Swaffield, Professor of Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Chaired by Professor Bobby Duffy FAcSS, the Campaign’s Board, which reports to the Academy’s Council and whose members include both academics and social scientists working in the public and private sectors, supports the Campaign in its work to showcase and promote the voice of social science in policymaking, the media and beyond academia.

The new members of our Board bring a breadth of experience and expertise, from both academic and practitioner perspectives, including connecting social science research with public policy.

We look forward to working with them.

We thank our outgoing Campaign Board members, Professor Patrick Diamond FAcSS, Desiree Lopez FAcSS, Rachel Neaman, Professor Jonathan Portes FAcSS and Dr Chris Tyler for their hard work and dedication to the Campaign for Social Science during their terms of service which expired recently.
