The Academy of Social Sciences applauds today’s confirmation that the UK Government and European Union have struck a deal over future association to the Horizon Europe and Copernicus programmes.
The Academy has consistently emphasised that there could be no substitute for sustained association, which is essential for the retention and development of the UK’s world-leading social science research base.
Welcoming the Horizon deal, the Chief Executive of the Academy of Social Sciences, Rita Gardner, said:
“Today’s announcement is a vital step in allowing the UK’s social sciences to continue to thrive and lead in terms of international research standing, and to sustain the high levels of excellence in research and impact evidenced in REF 2021. We look forward to working with the UK Government and other partners to build and support pressing new research agendas which can deliver for society, economy, people and the environment.”
