Will Hutton, President of the Academy of Social Sciences responds to the BEIS Secretary of State’s decision to over-rule the recommendations of the selection board in appointing the Executive Chair of ESRC.
The Academy believes it is a decision with worrying implications, not only for the integrity of public sector appointments systems for arms-length bodies, for the ESRC and UKRI, but also for all science funding bodies.
